The gifts he gave were that some would be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until all of us come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to maturity, to the measure of the full stature of Christ.—Ephesians 4:11-13

Organization

St. Andrew Lutheran Church is a member of the Florida-Bahamas Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.  www.fbsynod.com and  www.elca.org

Mission

The mission of St. Andrew Lutheran Church is to invite people to Christ, incorporate them into the life of the church, and equip one another for effective Christian living.

Congregation Council

The church is governed by a congregation council comprised of the pastor and 10 members of the congregation. Eight are elected by the congregation at its annual meeting for 2-year terms and are limited to two consecutive terms. The other two members, the treasurer and the council secretary, are elected to 1-year terms and are not term-limited. The members are nominated by a committee recruited from the council from among the congregation.

The congregation council elects a president and a vice president at its first meeting after the annual congregation meeting. The council also appoints one of its members as its representative to the McMannis Preschool and Child Care Commission, and that representative becomes an active, voting member of the commission.

The congregation council also apportions its membership into these three working committees, which are charged with making recommendations to the council: Worship and Education, Property and Finance, and Mission and Outreach.

If a council seat is vacated before the end of a term, the council appoints a member of the congregation to complete the term.

Mutual Ministry Committee
